1. Copyright Notice

All content, software, algorithms, user interfaces, designs, graphics, text, data compilations, and other materials available on mydnatlas.com are the intellectual property of MYDNATLAS and are protected under the Australian Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, and other applicable international copyright treaties.

2. Platform Content Ownership

The following elements are owned by MYDNATLAS and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used without prior written permission:

  • Software and Algorithms: All source code, G25 analysis algorithms, ancestry composition models, admixture fitting methods, population distance calculations, and related computational logic.
  • Reference Databases: Our curated collection of ancient and modern population reference data, including G25 coordinates, population metadata, cultural categorisations, geographic coordinates, and temporal classifications.
  • User Interface and Design: The visual design, layout, icons, illustrations, and interactive elements of the platform.
  • Editorial Content: All guides, encyclopaedia entries, population descriptions, methodology explanations, and educational content published on the platform.
  • Brand Assets: The MYDNATLAS name, logo, taglines, and all associated trademarks and service marks.

3. User-Generated Content

Users retain full ownership of their personal genetic data, including uploaded DNA files and their derived G25 coordinates. By using the Service, you grant MYDNATLAS a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing ancestry analysis services. This license terminates immediately upon deletion of your data or account.

Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you voluntarily submit regarding the Service may be used by MYDNATLAS without obligation or compensation, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

4. Academic Data Sources

MYDNATLAS incorporates publicly available genetic data from peer-reviewed academic research. We acknowledge and respect the intellectual contributions of the scientific community. Our reference datasets include data derived from the following sources, among others:

  • Published Ancient DNA Studies: Peer-reviewed archaeogenomic publications including Lazaridis et al., Haak et al., Mathieson et al., Narasimhan et al., Olalde et al., and other landmark studies in population genetics.
  • 1000 Genomes Project: An international collaboration cataloguing human genetic variation across global populations. Data used under the project's open-access data sharing policy.
  • Human Genome Diversity Project (HGDP): A collection of DNA samples from populations around the world, maintained by the Centre d'Etude du Polymorphisme Humain (CEPH). Data used in accordance with the project's data access policies.
  • Allen Ancient DNA Resource (AADR): A comprehensive curated dataset of published ancient DNA samples maintained by the Reich Lab at Harvard University.
  • Other Published Datasets: Various additional peer-reviewed studies and publicly available population genetics datasets used in accordance with their respective data sharing agreements and open-access policies.

All academic data is used in accordance with the respective licences and data-sharing agreements under which it was published. MYDNATLAS does not claim ownership over the underlying raw genetic data from these academic sources.

5. Open-Source Acknowledgements

MYDNATLAS is built with the help of outstanding open-source software. We gratefully acknowledge the following projects and their contributors:

  • React: A JavaScript library for building user interfaces, developed by Meta and the React community. Licensed under the MIT License.
  • Supabase: An open-source Firebase alternative providing database, authentication, and storage services. Licensed under the Apache License 2.0.
  • Vite: A fast build tool and development server for modern web applications. Licensed under the MIT License.
  • Tailwind CSS: A utility-first CSS framework for rapidly building custom designs. Licensed under the MIT License.
  • shadcn/ui: A collection of reusable UI components built on Radix UI and Tailwind CSS.
  • Recharts: A composable charting library built on React components. Licensed under the MIT License.
  • NumPy and SciPy: Numerical computing libraries used in our G25 processing and analysis pipelines. Licensed under the BSD License.
  • PLINK: A whole-genome association analysis toolset used in our G25 coordinate conversion pipeline. Developed by Shaun Purcell and Christopher Chang.

6. Permitted Use

You may:

  • View, access, and use the platform content for personal, non-commercial purposes.
  • Share links to MYDNATLAS pages, provided proper attribution is given.
  • Reference MYDNATLAS analysis results in personal blogs, social media, or non-commercial discussion forums with appropriate attribution.

You may not:

  • Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from platform content without written permission.
  • Use MYDNATLAS content, algorithms, or reference data for commercial purposes.
  • Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright notices, trademarks, or attribution.
  • Frame, mirror, or embed MYDNATLAS pages on other websites without permission.

7. DMCA and Takedown Procedure

MYDNATLAS respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that content on our platform infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice containing the following information:

  1. A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  2. A description of the material on our platform that you claim is infringing, including the URL or other specific location.
  3. Your contact information, including name, address, telephone number, and email address.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

We will investigate all valid notices and take appropriate action, which may include removing or disabling access to the material in question. Counter-notices may be filed if you believe the takedown was issued in error.

8. Enforcement

MYDNATLAS actively monitors for and pursues unauthorised use of its intellectual property. Infringement may result in legal action under the Australian Copyright Act 1968, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and other applicable laws. We reserve all rights not expressly granted in these terms.
